PLACES OF INTEREST
Higüey Cathedral: During your visit to this city, the capital of the eastern region, you must see the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia, crowned with a monumental arch.
 
Colonial Town: In the old part of the capital, Santo Domingo, you can find the first ever built-up area in the Americas, with the American Cathedral, Calle de las Damas street and lots of other buildings of incalculable historical value.
 
Lighthouse of Columbus: Blessed by the Pope on the fifth centenary, this monumental structure pays tribute to the discovery and colonisation of the new world.

EXCURSIONS
BY FOOT
During your stay at Iberostar Bávaro you can enjoy pleasant strolls along the shore of our magnificent beach of fine, white sand. Macao Beach is to the north, and to the south, heading towards Punta Cana, there are miles of unspoilt beaches.

BY CAR
Among the range of alternative activities offered by Iberostar Bávaro you can choose from a variety of day trips by car or by motorbike (two- or four-wheeled bikes) in the surrounding area.  The routes are designed for you to enjoy the incredible scenery of the Dominican Republic. If you prefer you can hire a car at the hotel and make up your own route.  Recommend excursion by car: La Romana (Altos de Chavón)
 
BY BOAT
A wide variety of aquatic activities are available, from snorkelling through diving trips to full-day excursions to the nature reserves and islands in the area, including the extraordinary experience of fishing the famous marlin out at sea.
